So, here is the million-dollar question that is on all our minds. What is the difference between regular maintenance and our product cleanup?
When it comes to the hard water treatment space in India, water conditioners (like ours), salt softeners and filters are the major solutions. Among these, cartridge-based water filters and resin-based salt softeners require very frequent maintenance.

Cleanup process: make your Aqua Conditioners brand new again
The cleanup process of Aqua Conditioners is super easy and takes barely 30 mins to get done. All you need to do is take your AC system out of the pipeline or faucet, prepare a simple cleanup solution, leave the system in the solution for 15 mins, and you are done.
Things you need
A one-litre bottle of water
Wide tape roll
Cotton balls or tissues
A pair of gloves
Hydrochloric acid (HCL)
Prepare the product cleanup solution
1Take 1 litre of water in the bottle.
2Remove approximately 100 ml of water and add 100 ml of HCL (hydrochloric acid) to the bottle.
3Shake the bottle to let the water and HCL mix well, and let the solution settle for 2 minutes.
Once you have prepared the cleanup solution, have the Aqua Conditioners (AC) system ready, removed from the pipeline or faucet, and take "before" pictures of the system.
How to clean up your system
1Seal one end. Stuff the cotton balls or tissues into one end of the AC system and seal it shut with tape.
2Pour solution & seal the other end. Pour the cleanup solution into your conditioner till it's filled, and seal the other end (just like in step 1).
3Let it rest for 15 mins. Leave the conditioner with the solution undisturbed for 15 minutes (do not exceed 20 mins), then rinse and pour it out.
4Rinse the system thoroughly. After 15 mins, take the AC out of the solution and rinse it well with pressured water, by washing it under a tap or with a jet spray. This will wash out any leftover impurities in the system.
5Attach AC back to your pipeline or faucet. Once you have cleaned the system, take "after" photos for your reference and attach the system back to your pipeline.
Alternative method: instead of HCL acid, use vinegar. If you use vinegar there is no need to seal the ends, you can just drop the system in a bowl of vinegar (make sure your AC system is fully submerged). The only con of this method is that you have to leave the system in vinegar for about 5 to 6 hours. So if you have the time in hand and would rather not use HCL acid, you can opt for this method and get similar results.
Tip: handle acid with care, wear gloves and eye protection, and keep the area ventilated. If you would rather not do it yourself, ask us and we will guide a local plumber.
How will the cleanup help your AC system?

When you have had the system installed for a few years, it is natural for it to develop some sedimentation (dirt, microbial activity, compound formation) on the inside. When this accumulates over a period of time, your Aqua Conditioners might not give the best results.

How do I figure out when my system needs a cleanup?+
If you have been using Aqua Conditioners for a while and suddenly it feels like the hard water issues are showing up again, that is a sign your system needs a cleanup. Some of the issues that can be easily noticed are crusty limescale deposits, less lathering of soap, and extreme dryness in hair and skin. When this happens, all you need to do is a product cleanup and your system will be good as new to tackle these issues.
Is it okay to remove and reattach the system from the pipeline by myself?+
Of course! As long as you can reach the Aqua Conditioners system, it should be easy to remove, get it cleaned and fix it back up. But if the system is fixed in a mainline pipe that is not easily reachable, then you might need some help from a local trusted plumber. Aqua Shower Premium is the easiest, as it is fitted on shower heads or handhelds and can be easily reached. Depending on where your system is installed, the Aqua Bathroom Series and Aqua Home Series may or may not be hard to access.
Can my water's hardness change over time?+
Yes, that is a possibility. Sometimes you might experience increased water hardness in your area and this can make you experience sudden issues in hair and skin health, or with limescale. The hardness of your water can fluctuate due to the underground water level, the season (wells are deeper in summer), or the water source (tankers bringing water from a different source than usual). When in doubt, always reach out to us and we would be happy to help you understand if the system needs a cleanup.
How long can I go without doing a cleanup?+
We have had customers who did not need to do a cleanup for 7 years, and we have also had customers who had to do a cleanup after 18 months of use. This can vary based on the water hardness in your area and the sediments accumulated in your system. Ideally, if you do not want to wait until you see changes in product effectiveness, we would recommend getting your Aqua Conditioners cleaned every 18-24 months.
